TORRANCE, Calif. and FREMONT, Calif. (June 20, 2007) – General Imaging, the worldwide exclusive licensee for the new line of GE-branded digital still cameras, announced today that SYNNEX Corporation (NYSE: SNX), a global IT supply chain services company, will begin distributing the new line throughout the U.S.
General Imaging has begun shipping the stylish new digital camera line to SYNNEX, to be distributed through SYNNEX’s NEXCE Division. Cameras should be available to resellers by next week.
“We look forward to a long relationship with SYNNEX, a well-established company with a very loyal customer base of retailers and resellers,” said Hiroshi “Hugh” Komiya, Chairman and CEO of General Imaging. “I am confident the NEXCE Division, with its strong focus in consumer electronics, will do a good job of driving our products to market.”
“SYNNEX is a major player in the supply chain, and reaching this agreement with SYNNEX is critical to our visibility in the U.S.,” said Rene Buhay, General Imaging Vice President of Sales, North America.
“Over the last year, SYNNEX has built a powerful presence in the consumer electronics market through our branded consumer electronics division, NEXCE,” stated Gary Palenbaum, Vice President of Product Management at SYNNEX Corporation. “We are very pleased to add GE’s high quality digital camera product line to the SYNNEX lineup.”
Even at the entry level, the GE cameras include features one would expect from a much more expensive camera, starting with the A730’s 7 megapixels of resolution, 3x optical zoom, and 2.5-inch LCD screen. Models at the higher end feature up to 12 megapixels, up to 12x zoom, and 3-inch screens. The GE cameras are expected to range in price from $129.99 to $399.99.
All GE cameras boast a sleek and intuitive design, plus a host of popular, advanced functions as standard features, including face detection, image stabilization, red-eye removal, ISO 1600 sensitivity, and panoramic stitching.
